Sebalo River

Hi, everyone!

At this time I’ll like o give you some overview about Bengkayang Regency symbol that is Sebalo River. Perhaps from the earlier posting you have already heard about the famous call of our regency as “Bumi Sebalo”, but you do not know exactly why we are called on that way. So, today I’ll like to give you some sort of information about that, hopefully it will help you to decrease the level of your curiousity.

Well everybody, Sebalo River locates in Bengkayang regency. This is a small river but the size is very long.
The water flow of this area flows over the regency so that wherever you go, it is easier for you to to find the nearly river. From this point of view, our people especially for the local people who were born at Bengkayang regency are able to swim very well. It is ironic, then, if anyone of us cannot do that so.

From the official site of Bengkayang regency, I have a good source to inform you a little bit more about this river. Well, do you know that our regency has 3 big water flow areas which cross our place? Actually, there are 3 water flow area of river in our regency those are Sambas water flow area, Sungai Raya water flow area, and Sungai Duri water flow area. From the three, the biggest one is Sambas water flow area on 722.500 hectare while Sungai Raya water flow area with 50.000 hectare and only 24.375 hectare of Sungai Duri water flow area. Sebalo River at the end is in this biggest area of water flow.

The picture of Sebalo River today is not alike the previous appearance. At the very beginning the picture of this river was very beautiful, natural, and elegance. It was a long river which was not really wide but deep enough for local river category. Because the river was fair and clear, the people around it like to use it for taking a bath and washing the household equipments.  This river was also rich of fish such as kebali, sengat, tengadak, kaloi, belidak, lunjing, padum, and more but today it is not that way. Only certain place is still rich of fish especially in the deep river one (the lower area of water flow). Besides, for the quality of water point of view, the water is not really clear instead of illegal mining activity about 5 to 6 years ago (but the impact can be seen until now) so that taking a bath is not become a priority to be done in this river anymore except just for fun (the teen). Mostly, our people now like to come to the river for fishing, especially for the one who has a hobby in this part. 

Well, from the character of the water perhaps you will feel a little unsatisfied with it, but do not worry. If you like to go fishing, I can tell you the place where you should prepare your fishing hook very well to do the strike is. If you feel it so, come in here in my regency and I will help you then.
